The best way to do a modern farmhouse is by introducing elements of black. We went bold with the carriage style garage doors and painted them black to match the dutch door at the entrance to the home. The cedar posts and accents around the exterior add a natural element to the white and black.

As you enter the home, you’ll see a large open concept, with the kitchen, dining and living room adjacent to one another. Because this is an ADU on our client’s property, this concept will work great for their guests.

The fireplace is one of my favorite elements as it features handmade tile from Spain. It adds just enough pattern without detracting from the other elements.

Our clients are from Turkey and love blue, so we incorporated Turkish elements with arabesque tiles and mirrors, along with blue tiles in the bathrooms. The subtle touches are complemented by the furniture throughout the space.

Modern Grey was the perfect color for the interior because it was a nice combination of grey and brown tones. Accented with dark floors and black windows, it’s the best backdrop to let the other players shine.
