This residence underwent a major transformation by adding square footage to build the kitchen of our clients’ dreams. The exposed beams added an extra layer of drama and interest. Since this home is steps from the ocean, we wanted to maintain a coastal feel without going over the top. We added a wide plank engineered hardwood to add warmth. Because the coloring is a mid-tone oak with a bit of rustic characteristics, it is going to be durable for a family with young children and pets.
The fireplace surround was an area where we wanted to make a statement, but not to detract from the rest of the house. We designed built-ins on either side of the fireplace and shrouded the firebox with white stacked quartzite stone. Nickel gap shiplap flanks the upper portion, only divided by a reclaimed mantle made of oak barrel staves.
