Before and After Transformation of a Single-Level Home

Whole house remodels are our favorite! Why? Because they are complicated, challenging, and messy, but the end result is always worth it. Our latest project is no exception - this is an impressive before-and-after transformation! What makes this remodel even more special is that it’s located in the neighborhood where I grew up. It feels like a full circle to work on a home where I used to play with my dollhouses.

This single-level home, purchased by our clients in 2019, was originally 2000 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It featured two living rooms and four smaller bedrooms. Our clients wanted to expand the footprint and create a luxurious primary bedroom and bathroom on the opposite side of the house. The finishes were very dated and definitely needed a refresh.

Together with PACK Design, we created an open floor plan, added an additional bathroom to the front of the house, and expanded the primary bedroom/bathroom wing off the left-hand side. Robertson Builders came on board as our builder and did a fantastic job bringing our designs to life.

The challenge with this project was mostly due to permitting delays during the pandemic. It was frustrating, but we finally got our permit and hit the ground running.

Our favorite room to design - the kitchen - was where we really got to work. We aimed to create a functional kitchen with double the storage capacity of the old one, plus a bar that would accommodate a wine column and plenty of glassware.

In addition to the kitchen, we focused on the primary bath, aiming for a large shower and a separate room for the toilet.

Stylistically, we kept the lines super clean, injected some black, and brought warmth with walnut and wood tones. The kitchen is where we really made a statement with color. Wait until you see the kitchen backsplash!

All the cabinetry in this home is from our exclusive cabinetry lines. Here are some close-ups!
